Shota Fumoto is a Japanese photographer based in Tokyo, working on long-term reportage in Europe and the Caucasus.
His work follows migration, communities and life in transit — most recently among the Russian émigrés who have been arriving in Tbilisi since 2022 (Two Worlds, One Street), and earlier on a journey from Russia to Morocco (We Are Nobody).
He photographs people as they are — not the role they play, but the person underneath.
