Two Stages
Ongoing work from Tbilisi, 2026. Through Vaxo (Vakhtang Nozadze), an actor I met by chance on the street, I was let into the life of two theatres in Tbilisi: the Nodar Dumbadze Theatre on Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue and the Sandro Mrevlishvili Theatre on Rustaveli Avenue. Vaxo acts at both, often in several plays at once, and told me, half joking, that it gets his head in a tangle. His father, Pavle Nozadze, an Honoured Artist of Georgia, joined the Metekhi Theatre at its founding in 1974 under Sandro Mrevlishvili, whose name the theatre on Rustaveli Avenue now carries. I photographed the actors on stage, backstage and in rehearsal. Made during Two Worlds, One Street.
